Person Specification

Essential Criteria

  • Degree educated with a proven ability to deliver innovative, dynamic and courageous leadership and strategic direction across a People Directorate, to include substantial experience of leading HR, Resourcing/Recruitment, Learning & Development and Wellbeing.
  • Qualified as a strategic leader in policing or a similar profession with significant experience in HR management or qualified as a strategic HR leader through CIPD or equivalent.
  • Proven ability to deliver consistent standards of professional practice with a solid understanding of employment law.
  • Proven ability to develop first class working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, both internally and externally.
  • Strong negotiating, influencing and verbal communication skills with the ability to command the confidence of internal and external stakeholders whilst effectively managing diverse personalities and viewpoints.
  • Proven track record of delivering major organisational and cultural changes within a large-scale organisation.
  • Proven experience of formulating successful people focused strategies, policies and initiatives.
  • In depth understanding and successful delivery of diversity opportunities in employment and service delivery.

Desirable Criteria

Previous experience at a senior level within a large-scale public-sector organisation.
