Head of People Services Opportunity
Principal purpose of the role
Responsible for the delivery of cradle to grave People Services to include ‘first point of contact’ and all
people transactions for officers, staff and managers. Delivery of specialist attraction and recruitment support
and the provision of workplace health services.
Main activities of the role (This list is not exhaustive)
- Lead and be accountable for the performance of the People Services team
- Oversee and monitor the strategic direction, planning and development of People Services delivery
across both forces, managing risk and adjusting plans according to organisational requirements. - Contribute to the formulation and revision of relevant HR strategies and work to achieve objectives and
priorities as determined by the Director of People. - Contribute to, and support the Director of People, in the practical translation and implementation of the
People Management Strategy, embedding excellent customer service in the delivery of all people
services aligned to strategic aims and objectives. - Lead on the delivery of the tier one ‘first point of contact’ service for officers and staff who are seeking
support from the People Directorate, providing appropriate support and advice or signposting to
appropriate people professionals. - Responsible for the accurate and timely delivery of all people transactions throughout the officer / police
staff life cycle, ensuring legislative compliance and accurate inputting to the ERP system. - Lead on the development of attraction and recruitment strategies, and work to achieve objectives and
priorities as outlined by the Director of People, in order to meet strategic aims and operational need. - Responsible for the development and delivery of specialist attraction and recruitment advice to support
managers and the wider organisation, including positive action and inclusivity initiatives. - Responsible for the development, management and delivery of workplace health services to meet
organisational requirements, supporting officers and staff, increasing wellbeing, attendance and
productivity. - Ensure the effective delivery of Trauma Risk Management (TRiM) including training of new
practitioners, co-ordinators and managers. - Manage procurement tender processes and contracts with external suppliers of people services.
- Responsible for the provision of timely, accurate reports for the Director of People, other individuals
and appropriate groups relating to people services delivery and key performance indicators. - Work with the Director of People, and other HR Leads to maintain a one-team approach to ensure that
the work of the HR Services team complements and is consistent with the work of the other functions
across the People Directorate and Constabularies. - Act as an advocate of change and modernisation in support of organisational and HR strategies
- Provide resilience for the HR leadership team, including deputising for the Director of People as
required - Any other duties that are commensurate with the role and grade as may be requested by management
